Top 10 countries for renewable energy investment

Global investment in renewable energy rose two percent to $279.8 billion in 2017, a UN-backed report recently showed.
 
Last year was the eighth in a row global investment in renewable energy exceeded $200 billion, according to UN Environment, the Frankfurt School-UNEP Collaborating Centre and Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
 
China became the leading destination for renewable energy investment in 2017, accounting for $126.6 billion or 45 percent of global investment.
 
A record 98 gigawatts of solar power capacity was installed worldwide last year, with China contributing 53 gigawatts, or more than half.
