CNOOC project expands oil refinery capacity

  China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) said Monday its project in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, has almost doubled its crude refining capacity to 22 million tonnes per year.
 
  Test runs of the second phase of the project with an annual capacity of 10 million tonnes have proved successful.
 
  Together with the first phase, around 20 million tonnes of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel meeting Euro VI emission requirements are expected to be provided to domestic and overseas market.
 
  Construction of the Phase II started in July 2013, with a total spending of 46.6 billion yuan (7 billion U.S. dollars).
 
  The first phase was put into operation in 2009 with the ability to process 12 million tonnes of crude oil and produce 1 million tonnes of ethylene each year.
 
  CNOOC has 51.2 million tonnes of crude oil processing capacity.
