Zhangjiagang gears up in metallurgical strength

  Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province will infuse more scientific strength into its pillar metallurgical industry as a provincial-level research center on metallurgy was unveiled on July 1.
 
  A joint effort by the Zhangjiagang government, Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, and renowned local steel enterprises, the center will keep up with market needs and provide all-round services to metallurgy-related enterprises in Jiangsu and surrounding areas.
 
  A variety of study branches will also be established, including those focused on new materials, crafts, clean energy, and smart manufacturing, which can help boost local metallurgical development in various aspects.
 
  Shen Wenrong, head of the local steel giant Shagang Group, expressed his confidence in collaborating with the center.
 
  "We will endeavor to achieve more technological breakthroughs, doing all we can to make the research center nationally and globally famous in five years," said Shen.
 
  Shanghai University also spoke highly of the metallurgical power of Zhangjiagang, as the school joined hands with local companies to produce more high quality special steel, tools, and molds.
