Construction of Sanmenxia's section of the Mengxi-Huazhong Railway line has made good progress as of March 1, with 20 kilometers of tunnels bored through the mountainous area.

When complete in 2019, the railway will supply coal Haolebaoji, Inner Mongolia in the north down as far south as Jiangxi province in the south, making it the longest coal supply railway in the world.
