SKOPJE, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Macedonian government will propose passing a law to ban the use of coal in households aiming to reduce air pollution in the country, Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Jani Makraduli told a conference on Monday.

Makraduli's words came at the donor conference in which a two-year program by the Macedonian government to reduce air pollution was presented.

"We will campaign and provide subsidies with ecological resources and with increased energy efficiency. To change the coal stoves," said Makraduli.

The Macedonian government is looking for technical and financial assistance from foreign donors in the fight against air pollution and implementation of the two-year national plan where air pollution is expected to decrease by 50 percent.

"National funds provided by the budget are not enough to implement the Air Pollution Prevention Plan, and technical assistance and positive experiences are needed from European countries to manage this global problem," underlined Makraduli.
