BEIJING, JULY.25 (CHINA MINING) Cheng Liwei, President of China Mining Association, met with Peter Arkell, President of Global Mining Association of China (GMAC). They had an in-depth discussion on the current situation of the mining industry and exchanged views on possible future co-operation.
President Cheng Liwei welcomed the visit of Mr Peter Arkell and his team. He said that over the years, GMAC and CMA have been maintaining a good cooperative relationship, having the common aspiration of providing quality services for their own members, which has laid a solid foundation for further deepen their cooperation. In the context of global economic integration, strengthening international co-operation is crucial to the development of the mining industry. Resource sharing, technology exchange and market expansion can be achieved through cooperation between the two sides. The trend of reverse globalisation has brought many challenges to the mining industry, such as trade protectionism and resource nationalism. Both sides should join hands to cope with this impact and maintain the stability and sustainable development of the industry. He then extended an invitation to GMAC and its members to participate in the 2024 (26th) China Mining Conference and Exhibition.
Mr Peter Arkell said that China's mining industry has gone through the transformation from ‘bringing in’ to ‘going out’ and has now entered a new stage. CMAC is willing to work with CMA to promote international mining cooperation, resist the impact of reverse globalisation on the mining industry, and help Chinese enterprises to adjust their strategies in time, adapt to market changes, and firmly grasp the development opportunities. He gladly accepted President Cheng Liwei's invitation and said he would actively participate in this year's CHINA MINING.
Che Changbo, Secretary General of China Mining Association, John Steel, Chief Operating Officer of Hebei HuaAo Mining Industry Company Limited, Cao Lei, Vice President of GMAC, and staff from the International Cooperation and Research Department of CMA attended the meeting as well.
